MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – There will be a new way to watch the Milwaukee Brewers and two other teams in 2025 as the Diamond Sports Group nears a new deal with FanDuel.
According to Adam McCalvy of MLB.com, the league will produce and distribute the local games for the Cleveland Guardians, Milwaukee Brewers, and Minnesota Twins in 2025. This agreement will resemble the ones reached by the league in 2024 with cable and satellite distribution companies to provide direct-to-consumer streaming alternatives for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Colorado Rockies, and San Diego Padres.
Noah Garden, MLB Deputy Commissioner, Business and Media, spoke about the agreement, saying, “With the media landscape continuing to evolve, Major League Baseball is committed to serving our fans by ensuring they can see their favorite clubs, removing blackouts where we can, and ultimately growing the reach of our games. We are proud to bring Guardians, Brewers, and Twins games to their passionate fan bases with the same high-quality production that we have demonstrated in Arizona, Colorado, and San Diego.”
The league’s announcement comes as betting company FanDuel continues to discuss a naming rights deal with Diamond Sports Group, which is scheduled for another bankruptcy hearing in November. Front Office Sports notes that the deal has been in the works for months and will provide FanDuel a “single-digit percentage of equity” in Diamond Sports Group but information on how the newly acquired content will interact with the already existing FanDuel TV has not been made available at this time.
Diamond Sports previously had an investment agreement with Amazon, which offered to provide $115 million to the company if it could turn a profit. However, Amazon pulled that offer from the table after Diamond missed a deadline to have its reorganization plan authorized by August 5th as the investment contract called for.
