GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – The Green Bay Packers opened Week 6 as large favorites over the Arizona Cardinals. They’re expecting one of their top receivers to return to practice on Wednesday for the first time in nearly a week.
According to BetMGM, the Packers are 5-point favorites in this week’s home matchup against the Arizona Cardinals, with the over/under set at 49.5 points. This spread would be the Packers’ largest of the season so far, but the Cardinals have a history of pulling off upsets like they did last week against the 49ers when they were 7-point underdogs before winning on the road 24-23.
Green Bay is 3-2 on the season against the spread and 1-1 when they’re the betting favorite, but oddsmakers continue to like the Packers, especially at home and when Jordan Love and his top targets are on the field.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, wide receiver Romeo Doubs met with the team on Monday to discuss the next steps forward after serving his one-game suspension due to his being unhappy with his lack of involvement in the offense. He will return to practice on Wednesday. Doubs is yet to catch a touchdown this season but creates a lot of opportunities for receivers like Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks due to his ability to stretch defenses by making plays downfield.
Head coach Matt LaFleur stated on Monday during his media availability that he’d like to move past the “isolated incident” and that while he understands that players need their numbers for contract reasons, the focus going forward needs to be on winning.
