GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – Packers safety Xavier McKinney has been named NFC’s Defensive Player of the Week following his record-setting fifth straight game recording at least one turnover.
McKinney had a fumble recovery and an interception during the Packers’ 24-19 victory over the Rams in Los Angeles and is the first Packers player to receive the award since former cornerback Rasul Douglas during the 2021 season.
McKinney is the first Packers defender to have an interception and a fumble recovery in the same quarter since Hall of Famer Charles Woodson in 2011 and he made history by being the first player since the 1970 league merger to have an interception in each of his first five games after joining a new team.
