WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A Marathon County woman accused of beating another woman in a road rage incident will go to trial next spring.
Terra LaFave is said to have choked a woman near the intersection of Clubhouse and Ringle Roads this summer. The victim said she had just passed a vehicle traveling under the speed limit. The driver of that vehicle then began to flash their headlights and turn signals at her.
When she stopped at the next intersection to see if something was wrong the driver of that vehicle, identified as LaFave, got out and confronted her.
The victim was beaten and choked to the point where she couldn’t breathe. Another driver stopped and told the attacker he had a gun in an attempt to stop the incident.
On Friday a judge scheduled a two-day trial for May 7th and 8th. A final pretrial conference will be held on March 13th.
If found guilty of a felony count of strangulation she faces up to six years in prison and $10,000 in fines. The misdemeanor counts of battery and disorderly conduct could bring up to a year in jail and another $10,000 in fines.
