RIB MOUNTAIN, WI (WSAU) – Earlier this week the Granite Peak ski area turn on its snow guns for the first time this season.
It was cold enough on Tuesday night into early Wednesday for a test run. Generally temperatures must be in the 20s for snowmaking.
Actual snowmaking for the season-opener won’t begin until early November.
The ski area hopes to have 4 or 5 runs open when the skiing season begins the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, November 19th If the weather is cold enough they’ll expand to other runs.
The opening day and the length of the ski season are dependent on the weather.
