WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) — An Arpin man accused of planning to kill two correctional officers in the Wood County Jail may have a plea deal with the state.
Jesse Hansen-Schumann was scheduled for trial this week, but court records show that has been called off for a plea and sentencing hearing on Thursday, February 27th. The 34-year-old is facing two felony counts of solicitation of intentional homicide and misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct and bail jumping.
Investigators say he was planning to kill two officers because they had previously held him accountable for disciplinary infractions. He also accused them of making up “lies” about him.
Officers learned about the alleged plot after another inmate came forward; saying Hansen-Schumann had asked him to help jump the officers in an area of the jail that didn’t have camera coverage. In exchange, the man said Hansen-Schumann offered to kill his ex-wife when he got out of jail.
The second inmate said he didn’t want to be involved in the alleged plot and also didn’t want to get in trouble if Hansen-Schumann did take action.

Hansen-Schumann had pled not guilty to the charges and was scheduled for a three-day trial this week. Court records show he is being held at the Dodge Correctional Institute in Waupun.
