Robert Arnold
STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — A Portage County man was found guilty of making terroristic threats against local and national Democratic candidates as part of a plea hearing in late February.
Robert Arnold pled no contest to one felony count on February 21st, according to court records. He was then given a withheld jail sentence and three years of probation.
Conditions include a full no-contact order with three victims, no access to the internet or social media unless it’s for work, and treatment or counseling. He must also surrender all firearms to the Portage County Sheriff.

Charges stem from a voice message Arnold left with US Senator Ron Johnson, saying he would hunt Democrats. He’s also accused of saying that as a former Marine, he would exterminate them off the face of the earth. Investigators say the message named some specific figures, including Wisconsin Senator Tammy Baldwin, former VP and Democratic Presidential Nominee Kamala Harris, and her running mate Tim Walz. Local candidate Vinnie Miresse was also named.
The case had been set for a scheduling conference on Tuesday, but records show a plea and sentencing hearing was held on February 21st. The 51-year-old must also submit a DNA sample and pay court costs as part of the sentence.
