NEKOOSA, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — Two people were arrested in Nekoosa on Friday, following a multi-year investigation which led to search warrants being executed at several locations.
In a release, the Nekoosa Police Department says Jenny L. Wicke, 41, and Jorge Torres-Torres, 36, were taken into custody as a result.
Wicke faces multiple felony charges, including tax return fraud, money laundering, public assistance fraud, misstating or concealing facts in a food stamp application, making fraudulent claims for credit, and theft.
She was also arrested for resisting or obstructing an officer.
Torres-Torres, who is not a U.S. citizen and has a violent history, was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Wicke is also accused of exploiting government programs and violating labor laws. Officers haven’t released any further details about the investigation but did say Wicke operates restaurants in the Nekoosa area.
