MILWAUKEE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A jury found the man accused of murdering and dismembering a 19-year-old woman in Milwaukee last year guilty on all counts.
Friday marked day nine of the Maxwell Anderson trial. He was found guilty of first-degree intentional homicide, mutilating a corpse, hiding a corpse and arson of property other than a building.
His sentencing is set for Aug. 15.
Prosecutors say Anderson killed Sade Robinson after a first date, disposed of her body parts in various locations and set fire to her car.
The state and defense both rested their cases in Anderson’s trial Thursday.
Soon after Robinson vanished in early April 2024, police discovered a severed human leg at Warnimont Park. Additional body parts that belonged to Robinson — include a torso, foot and two arms — were later recovered.
Still photos taken from video surveillance footage show Anderson and Robinson arriving at a bar and restaurant for a date. The pair can be seen sitting at the bar and later leaving together.
Testimony from an informant alleged Anderson planned his crime weeks in advance.
The informant told police they were at Anderson’s home on March 5 when he showed the informant his basement. The informant said there was a plastic tarp covering a sanitation sink, ceiling, floor and walls.
The informant’s statement in the court filings allege Anderson told the informant he “intended to kill Sade Robinson” using a gun to get her in the basement. The informant claimed Anderson said he “planned on shooting Robinson and then dismember her body in the room” before “disposing Robinson’s body throughout the city.”
The informant told police they saw three saws in the basement and believed those were the saws Anderson intended to use.
The court records also indicate another woman who went on a date with Anderson in February said Anderson asked her back to his home and drugged her drink.
Court filings say when investigators searched Anderson’s home, they collected swabs of stains and women’s clothing, some hidden in the basement. Prosecutors say GPS records place Anderson at Robinson’s home the night she disappeared.
