Bill Berrien for Wisconsin
WHITEFISH BAY, WI (WSAU) — With more than 390 days to go before Wisconsin’s 2026 Partisan Primary Election, at least one gubernatorial candidate says it’s time to start the ads.
Businessman Bill Berrien launched his first ad buy on Monday, spending $400,000 on statewide TV, radio, streaming, and digital ads. Representatives for Berrien’s campaign say the ads will be targeted to conservative voters, with an emphasis on the Green Bay and Milwaukee markets.
“I got into the race for governor because I believe we need a leader to shake up Madison the same way President Trump has shaken up Washington,” Berrien said in a statement announcing the ad buy. “I’ll use my experience as a former Navy SEAL and Wisconsin manufacturer to turn our state around from the weak leadership we’ve experienced under Tony Evers and put Wisconsin families first. It’s time we fire the bureaucrats and hire a businessman.”
The ads paint Berrien as a political outsider who aligns himself with President Donald Trump’s agenda.
Berrien is one of two officially announced Republican candidates. Washington County Executive Josh Schoemann has also declared his candidacy. Several other big names are also considering a run for the office, including State Senator Patrick Testin and 7th District Congressman Tom Tiffany, though neither has officially declared their intent.
First District Congressman Bryan Steil and former Governor Scott Walker have reportedly declined to run for the seat.
