WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The Wausau Woodchucks dropped two-of-three games this weekend vs the Lakeshore Chinooks in Mequon. The Wausau Ignite softball team hammered Minot in a Sunday matchup at Athletic Park.
Saturday the Woodchucks lost their first games since the All-Star break as they were swept in a doubleheader, 3-1 and 8-7. Dylan Schlotterback had the only RBI in game one. In game two the Woodchucks coughed up a late lead as the Chinooks scored three times in the 7th. Cael Boever and Max Soliz drove in two apiece. Josh Arquette, Jake Berkland and Christian Smith-Johnson had one RBI each.
Sunday the Wausau bats exploded in a 19-0 win over Lakeshore. Grant Parsons, Allen Leitner & Connor Hill combined for the shutout allowing just four hits with 7 K’s. The Chucks scored 11 runs in the fifth inning. Max Soliz was 5-5 with three doubles and four RBIs. Dom Rodriguez hit a three-run homer and finished with four RBIs as well.Brayden Mazzacano drove in four and Zach Knowlton added three more.
The Woodchucks have an off day Monday before before heading to Green bay on Tuesday.
The Wausau Ignite softball team beat Minot 11-1 on Sunday. Wausau batters had seven hits and coaxed 11 walks out of the Minot pitchers. Ava Clark drove in two runs. Emily Bechtel, Riley Schwisow, Brooklyn Hofer and Mia Johnson added an RBI apiece.
The Ignite will host Minot Monday night at 6:05 pm
