MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) — Police in Marshfield say a woman attempted to purchase a vehicle with a worthless check.
The woman, identified as 48-year-old Jaime Sue Woelbing, agreed to purchase the vehicle in late June at Wheelers of Marshfield. Woelbing wrote a $60,000 check, which bounced. The vehicle was returned by a man, who was initially identified as a person of interest. He has since been interviewed and cleared.
Management at Wheelers noted that some parts were missing from the vehicle when it was returned. They believe those were sold.
Investigators say similar tactics have been used at other dealerships. Officers note that Woelbing has gone by several names, including Boring, Rightmire, Woelbing, or a combination of two of these.
Anyone with information about the two is asked to contact the Marshfield Police Detective Matt Berres at 715-384-0816.
