WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Six people have applied to represent Marathon County Supervisor District 5 following the death of former representative Gary Gisselman.
According to an agenda released by County Clerk Kim Trueblood, those six candidates will be interviewed on Monday and Tuesday:
Monday, September 15, 2025 (Courthouse Assembly Room)
• 2:00 p.m. – Britnie Remer (interview via WebEx)
• 4:15 p.m. – Steven Frodl
Tuesday, September 16, 2025 (Courthouse Assembly Room)
• 2:15 p.m. – Orlando Alfonso
• 3:00 p.m. – Aaron Griner
• 3:45 p.m. – Cody Nikolai
• 4:30 p.m. – Brad Bernarde
Alfonso has run for the seat before, losing to Gisselman by 71 votes during the 2024 election. Nikolai has previously served on the Wausau School Board.
The board will vote one of the six candidates into the seat during its meeting on Thursday, September 18th. That person will serve through the April 2026 election, with the option to run for a full term.
Gisselman died in August at the age of 81. He also served on the Wausau City Council, which will also fill his seat through an application and interview process.
