CONLEY COMMENTARY (WSAU) – Those on the left have been spreading a lie about Charlie Kirk. They will tell you he hated the LGBTQ community; that he was a hypocrite. That he could not show Christian love or compassion for men who thought they were trapped in female bodies or vice versa.
There are two clips that I’ve seen over and over again on social media. In one, a man, and he is obviously a man, is wearing a pink dress and a bow in his hair. And he accuses Charlie Kirk of being a jerk for stating the obvious, that, “You Sir, are a man. You are not a woman.” And the pink-dress man says Charlie is being rude – that its rude not call someone by their preferred pronouns. And Charlie Kirk’s response isn’t angry… he says calmly that what is rude, sir, is for you to deny reality, and to label people as bigots if they don’t want to play along.
The other clip is of a woman, a heavy-set blonde, who comes up to debate Charlie Kirk. She states that she was born a man, and has believed since childhood she should be a woman. Her question is, at what age is it appropriate for children to be offered sex-reassaignment surgery. And Charlie’s response to her is full of compassion. He says that he hopes she reconsiders altering her body. He says he will pray for her, that she might focus more on her mental health than on going to war against her body. His response is decent and generous to someone who he disagrees with.
We’ve heard a lot that, on a certain level, Charlie Kirk got what he deserved. That he went from one college campus to another as a provocateur, so we shouldn’t be surprised that his hatred was met with someone who hated him more.
If you were told that Charlie Kirk is a hater, you’ve been lied to. All that’s missing is evidence of his hate.
