Christopher Bauer
WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A Milwaukee-area man facing more than 100 years in prison on four felony counts is free on bond.
Court records show Christopher Bauer posted $15,000 cash this week. Terms of the bond include no contact with minors and no access to the internet. He must also maintain absolute sobriety and take all medications as prescribed.
Investigators say the 46-year-old was interacting with an undercover officer posing as a teenage girl through the messaging app KIK. Bauer is accused of sending the officer sexually charged messages and photos, promising to meet “her” in Wausau for a night of sex and drugs.
Those messages were found on Bauer’s phone when officers met him at a Wausau apartment on November 5th. A search of his vehicle turned up mushrooms, LSD, and drug paraphernalia.
Bauer appeared in court on Wednesday, telling the Judge he plans to hire his own attorney. A review hearing was scheduled for November 26th, with a pre-trial conference penciled in for early February.
He faces 80 years in prison on the two most serious charges, using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime and attempted sexual assault. Additional counts against him include child enticement and possession of narcotics with the intent to distribute. He also faces misdemeanor charges for possession of amphetamines and drug paraphernalia.
