WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — Snowmobile trails in Wood County are scheduled to open on Wednesday.
WAOW TV reports the Auburndale Nite Owl Trails will open at noon, while all other trails will open at 8 a.m.
Riders are advised to exercise caution due to early-season conditions. Organizers say some trails may not be fully groomed, but clubs are actively working on them. Staying on marked trails and respecting property boundaries is essential.
For the latest trail conditions and updates, visit the Wood County Parks and Forestry Department website or check their social media pages. That’s also where you can find information on other winter recreation areas, including Nepco Lake County Park and Richfield 360 County Forest.
Taylor County will also open a portion of the Pineline Trail Corridor at noon on December 30. That includes the M1 and Corridor 23 sections from Medford to the Price County line.
Other Taylor County trails remain closed, but efforts are underway to open them. The trails are in early-season conditions, with possible rough spots and thin snow.
Local snowmobile clubs have worked tirelessly to maintain the trails. “Please thank them for their efforts and consider becoming a member of a club,” the release urged.
