WITTENBERG, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – A long-time fan from Wittenberg who was named a finalist for the Packers Fan Hall of Fame.
Lorraine Mueller, who passed away last month, was a passionate Packers fan. For her 102nd birthday, she received a special delivery from the team, including a hat, an Ice Bowl jacket, and an autographed football.
“She loved her Packers, and last year when she turned 102, they sent her all this stuff. She cried and I cried,” said Gail, Lorraine’s daughter.
The football was signed by many Packers players, and Gail expressed her gratitude to the team for the thoughtful gifts. “And Love’s name is with a little heart right on the top. And I said, ‘thank you for all of the goodies you gave my mom,'” said Gail.
At the time she was nominated for the Packers Fan Hall of Fame, Lorraine was living at the Homme Home in Wittenberg after suffering a stroke nine years prior. Gail shared the impact of her mother’s faith and dedication to the team.
“She prayed everyday. Always pray and good things will happen,” said Gail.
Packers game days were a highlight of the week for Lorraine. She would paint her nails green and gold, wear her Packer gear, and sport her handmade Packers jewelry.”She made us each a bracelet with our name on it, in case we got lost one day. It would take her, sometimes, half a day to make a necklace,” said Gail.
Despite being deaf in both ears and losing sight in one eye due to a stroke, Lorraine spent her days crafting over 3,000 necklaces and bracelets. She sold thousands and generously gave them to fellow Packer fans.
