WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) Ruby’s Pantry, which supplied food pantries across the Midwest, announced its immediate closure last week.
Ruby’s Pantry had supplied a food pantry at New Hope Church in Wausau since 2018. They’d served other pantries in Appleton, Eau Claire, and LaCrosse. Local food pantries said the shutdown was sudden and they did not receive advance notice.
People who used Ruby’s Pantry paid $25 and received more than $100 worth of food. The leadership of Ruby’s Pantry said their program is no longer financially viable.
A distribution that was scheduled for April 7 and New Hope Church is canceled. The church says it hopes to partner with other food assistance programs in the future.
