TOWN OF RINGLE, WI (WSAU) — Ringle Fire Chief Chris Kielman estimates that cleanup from Friday’s EF3 tornado is already past the halfway point.
“Since Saturday morning, we are probably at 60%-70% [cleaned up] in that area,” said Kielman. “Wisconsin Public Service has restored power and gas to homes deemed livable, and as of Sunday afternoon, some residents are back in their homes.”
More than 140 homes sustained some damage from the storm. As of Monday afternoon, about 40 homes remain unlivable.
Kielman says the Town Hall will continue to serve as a donation drop point through 5 PM Monday. After that, items will be moved to the Salvation Army, which will be the point of contact for donated items such as clothing, shoes, and personal hygiene items.
Town Hall will then shift its focus to setting up a relief fund for residents, accepting cash donations and gift cards. “[That fund] will be handled by the Town Clerk and Treasurer.”
He expects information on how to donate will be available on the town’s website by Tuesday morning. Local foundations have also established relief funds, and several fundraising efforts are also being planned to help residents rebuild.
