MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – Major League Baseball has a new top overall prospect.
According to MLB Pipeline, the Brewers’ 19-year-old phenom Jesus Made has taken over the top spot from Pirates superstar Konnor Griffin after he recorded his 130th major league at-bat on Wednesday night, making him no longer a prospect.
Made is currently with the Brewers’ AA affiliate in Biloxi. He is batting .267 with three home runs and 19 RBIs this season, which puts him on track to be called up to AAA Nashville later this season if fellow top prospect Cooper Pratt is called up to the majors.
Throughout his career in minor league baseball, Made holds a .292 batting average with 15 home runs and 108 RBIs.
MLB insiders report that the earliest Brewers fans could expect to see Made in a Brewers uniform would be next season, after the team and Made’s agent were able to come to terms on a Chourio-style contract that would pay Made an estimated $14 million per year.
Including Made, Milwaukee has six prospects ranked in the top 100: infielder Luis Pena (19), infielder Jett Williams (60), infielder Cooper Pratt (66), pitcher Logan Henderson (83), and outfielder Luis Lara (96).
