MERRILL, WI (WSAU) — The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a rash of copper wire thefts.
Detectives are investigating about ten incidents in the last two weeks. All have occurred near Frontier Communications roadside work sites.
No other items have been reported missing from those work sites. Investigators believe the group may have hit locations outside of Lincoln County as well.
Officers are working with their peers in other jurisdictions to gather and process evidence from the sites. They are also asking the public to report any suspicious vehicles, persons, or activities near these work sites.
If you see any suspicious activity, report it to your local law enforcement as soon as possible.
