MADISON, WI (WSAU) – The Wisconsin Badgers’ 2027 recruiting class got a big boost on Wednesday when top ten 2027 safety Makhi Williams announced his commitment to Wisconsin over top schools such as LSU and Nebraska.
Williams, a 6’2 160-pounder from Ruskin, Florida, is ranked 107th overall by 247 Sports and 10th ranked safety in the 2027 class.
According to Andrew Ivins, the director of scouting for 247 Sports, Williams is a “deep safety with ballhawk tendencies who has impressed as a man-to-man defender” who “swarms the catch point and gets his hands on passes (10 interceptions in 30 varsity games).” Ivins also mentions that Williams will probably require a redshirt year to gain muscle.
The Wisconsin Badgers’ 2027 recruiting class is currently ranked among the top 15 nationally (No. 14 in 247Sports, No. 17 overall), with 13 commitments, including Wisconsin’s top recruit, four-star running back Kingston Allen, four-star tight end Korz Loken, and four-star quarterback Jack Sorgi, son of former Badgers quarterback Jim Sorgi.
