MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Brewers are clearing the way for top prospect Cooper Pratt to become the team’s everyday third baseman.
According to Athlon Sports’ MLB insider Pat Ragazzo, the Brewers have designated third baseman Luis Rengifo for assignment to make room for Cooper Pratt, who was promoted from AAA-Nashville on Sunday.
Rengifo, 29, struggled at the plate during his stint with Milwaukee, hitting only .205 with no home runs and 19 RBIs. He will now have the option of joining the Sounds in Nashville or entering free agency.
This move indicates that the Brewers are willing to keep Pratt as their starting 3rd basemen indefinitely. Throughout his minor league career, he had a .256 batting average, 22 home runs, and 147 RBIs.
