MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Brewers will be without one of their top pitchers for an extended period of time.
According to the team, an MRI revealed new damage to Brandon Woodruff’s anterior capsule, which will be surgically corrected after the 2023 season. The Brewers intended to refer Woodruff to surgeon Dr. Keith Meister for a second evaluation after originally diagnosing him with inflammation. No timetable has been provided for when he may return from the 15-day IL.
Woodruff, 33, missed the entire season last year due to injury, but he has pitched well when healthy this season, earning a 2.98 ERA and 47 strikeouts.
Logan Henderson will return from the IL on Thursday against the Cardinals, and Coleman Crow is slated to complete his rehab assignment in AAA-Nashville before rejoining the Brewers rotation after the All-Star break.
