WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The Wausau Police Department will need a new Deputy Chief in early 2027.
Officer Todd Baeten has announced that he plans to retire in January. On Monday, the Police and Fire Commission acknowledged Baeten’s decision and will conduct an internal interview process to find his replacement.
In a statement to WSAU News, Chief Matt Barnes said: “Deputy Chief Baeten has had a long and distinguished career and served Wausau with integrity and professionalism.”
Commission President Kathy Strasser said they hope to have a new Deputy Chief named before the Holidays.
