(247NEWSSOURCE/LEARFIELD) – One member of the Packers will have a new look to the back of his jersey.
The right tackle formerly known as Zach Tom revealed Sunday that he has changed his name to Zach Bako-Bewele.
The 27-year-old said he wanted to represent his Nigerian ancestry.
Bako is his father’s grandmother’s last name and Bewele is his father’s grandfather’s last name.
Bako explained how long he has been considering the change.
Bako-Bewele has been limited to individual drills to start training camp after undergoing knee surgery.
As for his knee, he said that it’s getting better.
Kraft back at practice: Packers tight end Tucker Kraft has returned to practice after the team removed him from the PUP list Friday.
Kraft is just working out individually, so far.
Coach Matt LaFleur says they’ll take things slow with one of Green Bay’s top offensive players.
Yahoo Sports reports number 85 could be involved when the Packers and Arizona Cardinals hold a joint practice August 26th.
LaFleur’s top goal is to have Kraft ready to go for Week 1 of the NFL season.,
LaFleur updates: In talking with the media on Sunday, Packers coach Matt LaFleur had considerable praise for offensive co-ordinator Adam Stenovich, saying that not only is he an intelligent co-ordinator and a great run-game designer but it goes beyond that.
Guess who is back at wide receiver? After spending time at defensive back last season, Bo Melton is now playing wide receiver again for the Packers.
LaFleur talked about what Melton can provide for the team.
On the defense: Packers safety Evan Williams likes playing defense under new co-ordinator Jonathan Gannon. Williams said that so far defense has been a lot of fun.
Williams said that he expects new Packers linebacker Zaire Franklin to be special for them.
He expects Franklin to wear the green dot and set the defense this season.
The Packers practice will be open to the public today and Tuesday.
