MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – The Pirates have the Brewers number this season. Pittsburgh won for the 6th time in 7 meetings this season on Monday, 4-3.
Spencer Horwitz hit a 3-run double.
Brandon Sproat, 3-7, took the loss.
The Brewers, trailing 4-0, cut the lead to 1-run in the 6th. The Brewers had 2-on with 1-out in the 7th and had the tying run on base in the 9th but failed to deliver a timely hit.
The Cubs beat the Dodgers Monday, 10-5, trimming the Brewers lead to 5 1/2 games in the NL Central.
The Brewers and Pirates continue their series on Tuesday at 6:05pm. Logan Henderson, 5-1, makes his comeback start for the Brewers.
