“I'm the wild card in this race,” Rep. Francesca Hong told POLITICO in an interview ahead of her campaign launch. | Hong for Governor campaign
CONLEY COMMENTARY (WSAU) – Francesca Hong’s moment is coming tonight. It’s impossible to image her not winning today’s democratic primary. She’ll be the lead national news story tomorrow: “Can a socialist win in purple-Wisconsin?”
And for those who support her, we haven’t even dug into Fran’s craziness.
You’ve heard that she wanted to cancel Thanksgiving. She describes it as a holiday that celebrates colonialism. Just last week she was asked about her tweet from 2000. She said that “Thanksgiving remains a painful holiday for many of our communities.” Two days later, her handlers told her that new and different messaging was needed. She now declares that Thanksgiving is her favorite holiday.
Francesca has also questioned Valentine’s Day. Not a holiday to celebrate love and romance; she says it’s a capitalist creation. So… it’s more about selling chocolates and flowers.
She is also trying to walk back her defund the police comments – and there are many of them. “Police exist to protect white privilege” and “They must be de-funded, not reformed.” She now says that many disadvantaged communities need more, not less, public safety. That’s hard to achieve with a disarmed and de-funded police force.
I think her Culvers tweet is the worst. She claims to have hustled her son out of Culvers because she was about to have a panic attack. “Too many old white people who thought we couldn’t speak English.” Remember this about Francesca. She’s a Carnac the Magnificent racist. She has the magical ability to discern what people are thinking based on their skin color and ethnicity. Just by looking at them she determined that the white people eating their butter-burgers didn’t like her. What other assumptions would she make about others who are different than her?
Francesca Hong has no change of undoing all of the loony things she’s already said. If Republicans can’t beat her, we deserve what we get.
