TOWN OF MERRILL, WI (WSAU) — A man suffered serious injuries after a hit-and-run incident along County Road K near Merrill on Sunday.
First responders were called to an area near Lake Pesobic Road at about 3:00 AM for a report of an injured man who wasn’t moving. As officers were on their way, the victim began to come to, and officers were able to question him when they arrived.
According to the man, he was walking along County Road K and was struck by a southbound vehicle. The victim couldn’t provide many details about the vehicle, adding that he had “little recollection” of what happened.
He was taken by ambulance to a Wausau-area hospital with undisclosed injuries. There has been no update on his condition.
Officers are asking the public to be on the lookout for a larger vehicle with a damaged rear-view mirror, possibly on the passenger side. Investigators add that there was a FLOCK camera in the area of the incident, but it was recently vandalized and wasn’t working at the time.
