MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — Cy Young favorites Jacob Misorowski and Chris Sale both navigated some traffic on the bases but combined to allow just three runs in a 2-1 Brewers win on Friday.
Misorowski allowed four hits over six innings and did not give up a run. He also recorded six strikeouts and allowed just four walks. Antonio Senzatela allowed one run but kept the Braves at arm’s length for his eighth hold of the season; Trevor Megill allowed one hit but closed the door in the 9th for his 24th save.
William Contreras went 4-4, including an RBI single in the 3rd. Andrew Vaughn brought home the second run on an RBI groundout that scored Jackson Chourio.
Luis Lara added two hits.
Milwaukee improves to 80-49, the first team to reach the 80-win mark. Game two of the series is Saturday afternoon, with pregame coverage beginning at 12:35 on WSAU. Game three will be in Williamsport, PA, at the MLB Little League Classic.
