GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – The Wisconsin Badgers Men’s and Women’s Hockey teams will be heading to Green Bay this winter to face off against some of their biggest Big Ten rivals.
According to a press release from the Packers, on February 20th, the Badgers women’s team will play Ohio State and the men will face Michigan in the Travel Wisconsin Frozen Tundra Faceoff. Pre-sale tickets will be available on Wednesday, Sept. 9, with general on-sale taking place on Friday, Sept. 11.
“We are proud to welcome college hockey back to Lambeau Field for the first time in more than 20 years for the Travel Wisconsin Frozen Tundra Faceoff,” said Packers President and CEO Ed Policy. “With three storied programs and two highly anticipated matchups, this doubleheader will give fans a rare opportunity to experience hockey at historic Lambeau Field and bring an exciting winter event to Green Bay.”
Wisconsin Tourism Secretary Anne Sayers says the games will be a great way to celebrate and promote the state, “The Travel Wisconsin Frozen Tundra Faceoff combines the heritage of Lambeau Field, three storied hockey programs, and warm Wisconsin hospitality into an opportunity that promises lifelong memories. We celebrate winter in Wisconsin, and hockey fans and viewers at home will discover so many reasons to love the season. These matchups will bring gameday-like energy to Green Bay, drive economic impact across the state, and turn hockey fans into fans of all things Wisconsin.”
The last hockey game played at Lambeau Field was the Frozen Tundra Hockey Classic on February 11, 2006, featuring the Badgers men’s team and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Wisconsin won that game 4-2.
