Today, of course, we have more tools than ever to spread God’s word.
YouTube and the internet have allowed me to see and hear sermons that I otherwise would not have.
My church, The Cross in Schofield, reaches beyond its own walls with a Sunday Facebook Live broadcast.
I have a bible app on my phone that feeds me a daily devotional each morning.
And, soon, there will be something new here at WSAU.
Zion Lutheran Church in downtown Wausau has broadcast their Sunday worship services for 89 years. Their Christmas Eve and Christmas Day broadcasts have become a cherished part of my holiday celebration. They share God’s word with special Good Friday and Thanksgiving broadcasts each year.
And Zion Lutheran Church is expanding its church outreach at this radio station. Mornings before the 6am news and evenings after the 10pm news, Zion Lutheran will offer a brief prayer. And on Saturday mornings at 7:30, Zion Lutheran will be on the air for an additional half hour to discuss faith and the Christian life.
We are not religious broadcasters. There are other stations in the area and around the country who devote their entire day to God’s word through songs of praise, prayer, and spreading Christ’s message. On this radio station we talk about politics, current events, the news of the day, and sports. Yet God is part of all of these things. Weaving him into a broader part of our broadcast day is important and is valuable. If, more often during your day, you think of God’s presence in your life, that’s very good.
