MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — The Milwaukee Brewers have officially clinched a spot in the Postseason after a 20-0 thumping of the Cincinnati Reds on Friday.
Jackson Chourio and Joey Ortiz each had four hits. Chourio added two RBI; Ortiz scored two runs.
Brice Turang, Jake Bauers, and William Contreras recorded home runs. Garrett Mitchell belted a grand slam in the 5th.
Contreras led the team with six RBI. Every starter recorded at least one hit.
Starting Pitcher Dustin May cruised through six innings, allowing just two hits and striking out six. Reliever Garrett Stallings covered the final three innings. He allowed no hits and struck out two. Despite the lopsided scoreline, Stallings was still awarded a save for holding the lead over the final three innings.
The result also lowered Milwaukee’s magic number to clinch the NL Central to four. Meaning they could wrap up the division title as soon as Sunday. Game two of the series with Cincinnati is tonight, with coverage on 93.9 The Game.
