BALTIMORE, MD (WSAU) — A Sal Frelick RBI base hit in the top of the 10th held up for the Milwaukee Brewers in a 6-5 victory on Friday.
Baltimore and Milwaukee went to the 9th tied at 3, with each side scoring twice in the final frame to push the game to the 10th. That’s when Frelick stepped up, lacing a single to right field to score placed runner Joey Ortiz.
It was Frelick’s only hit of the night after coming on as a pinch hitter late in the game. He also recorded a walk.
Jackson Chourio went 2-for-5 with three RBI and a run scored. Most of that damage came on a three-run home run in the second inning, his 24th of the season. Brice Turang also recorded two hits.
Starter Dustin May went 2.1 innings, allowing six hits and three earned runs. Four of the seven outs he recorded came via strikeout.
Six relievers followed, with Trevor Megill picking up the win despite allowing two runs in the 9th.
Milwaukee is now 96-58 and holds the top spot in the National League Postseason race. Baltimore is 75-79 with slim hopes of a Wild Card spot in the American League.
