WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – Tiffany said law enforcement across the state wants respect from the governor’s office.
“The undertone that I’m hearing across the state from law enforcements is having respect for them. They’ve not seen that from the governor’s office here over the last 8 years. They really want to know that they’re respected and that they’re going to be able to do their jobs. And that the governor will back them up. I will back them up,” Tiffany said.
Tiffany criticized Democratic candidate David Crowley over his approach to criminal justice, accusing him of “soft on crime” policies.
“I mean he’s talked about defunding the police, emptying out half of the population in our prisons across the state. Which means violent criminals are going to be put on the street,” Tiffany said.
Crowley criticized ICE’s “Operation Metro Surge” earlier this year and said in February on “Up Front” he doesn’t want local law enforcement partnering with them.
“Again the expectations for our local law enforcement should be to focus on protecting local communities they were employed to do,” said Crowley.
Tiffany says law enforcement agencies need to work together at the local, state and federal levels.
“So, David Crowley believes in turning Wisconsin into a sanctuary state. I mean he says he would be an accomplice with illegal aliens, including violent illegal aliens, like the one in Fond Du Lac county that raped a 12 year old girl. That’s not what we should have as a governor of Wisconsin. What I’ll do is make sure that all law enforcements coordinate. The local officials, like I was just talking to today, state, and federal. Make sure they coordinate, work together. That’s how you make that work properly,” said Tiffany.
