GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — Green Bay Packers Quarterback Aaron Rodgers will no longer act as a spokesperson for Prevea Health following comments made earlier this week regarding COVID-19 vaccination.
Prevea made the announcement on Saturday, a day after Rodgers, on the “Pat McAfee Show”, took issue with people who’ve criticized his decision not to get vaccinated for COVID-19.
“I realize I’m in the crosshairs of the woke mob right now,” Rodgers said. “So before my final nail gets put in my cancel culture casket, I think I would like to set the record straight on so many of the blatant lies that are out there about myself.”
Rodgers tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this week. In a press conference earlier this year, Rodgers told reporters he was “immunized” against the virus.
“I believe strongly in bodily autonomy,” Rodgers continued. “The ability to make choices for your body not to have to acquiesce to some woke culture war crazed group of individuals who say you have to do something.”
Rodgers told McAfee that he learned that he was allergic to an ingredient in the Pfizer and Moderna mRNA vaccines, leaving the Johnson & Johnson shot, which is not an mRNA vaccine, as his only option. He opted not to take that vaccine after rare blood clotting issues were reported earlier this year, causing the vaccine to be temporarily pulled.
Rodgers, who’ll sit out Sunday’s game with Kansas City after testing positive for COVID-19, also called the NFL’s COVID protocols “draconian.”
