BIRON, WI (WSAU) — Nine Dragons Paper will receive over $1.5 million in tax credits over three years to help create 27 jobs at its recently acquired Biron plant in Wood County.
The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation announced the tax breaks on Wednesday.
“ND Paper’s choice to invest here in Wisconsin shows the company’s continued commitment to our state and their workforce,” said Mark R. Hogan, secretary and CEO of WEDC, the state’s lead economic development organization. “These initiatives will require significant capital investment on the part of the company and WEDC is proud to provide support to make this a viable project for ND Paper.”
ND Paper plans to invest $200 million in the plant for long-term sustainability, safety, and efficiency. WEDC estimates show that those investments combined with the expanded staffing at the mill could indirectly create as many as 31 regional jobs as well.
The plant currently employs around 350 people and produces pulp and paper products. Nine Dragons Paper acquired the plant last summer under their US arm, ND Paper, which also operates plants in West Virginia and Maine. The Main plant is also in line for similar upgrades.
