MOSINEE, WI (WSAU) — Although work has been going on for weeks already, dignitaries from the City of Mosinee and Cobblestone Hotels met Thursday for a ceremonial groundbreaking for a 54-room, four-story hotel on the city’s Main Street.
President of Development Jeremy Griesbach says they are excited about what Mosinee has to offer. “In our mind, in our world, small-town America is where it’s at. There’s a lot of industry in town, there’s a lot of traveling, and there’s tourism. There’s a lot of demand drivers for hotels.”
Mayor Brent Jacobson said the city’s desire for a second hotel dates back ten years and has included numerous feasibility studies that have shown a need for more space for travelers coming through the Central Wisconsin Airport.
Griesbach says cities like Mosinee are their target markets. “It just made sense to fill the gap between Point and Wausau, to build a quality hotel. Then when we saw what Mosinee had going on downtown here it was really exciting to be a part of that.”
Cobblestone is the only hotel chain based in Wisconsin with offices in Neenah. Griesbach says they have properties spread out from Arizona to Pennsylvania; with many locations across Wisconsin in cities like Medford, Rhinelander, Platteville, and Little Chute. A grand opening date for the property has not been set, though Griesbach says it could be ready for guests by the end of the year pending any supply chain issues.
