CRANDON, WI (WSAU) — The Forest County Humane Society is reminding the public that they have a no-questions-asked policy when it comes to animal surrenders after a good samaritan found a box of puppies along a highway.
According to a Facebook post the six puppies were crammed into a banana box and were all extremely dehydrated and “hot as little baked potatoes.” According to the good samaritan, their mother was not with them.
Workers at the humane society immediately began administering liquids to the puppies and testing them for disease.
The shelter says they have a female dog who has latched on to the puppies as her own but is not currently lactating so they will need milk to feed the “banana box babies” as they are being called by staff.
Officials add that they are always looking to take in pets that can no longer be cared for by their owners. “We will not judge, we will not question you, we are here to help in these situations.”
The shelter is accepting donations, both financially and in the form of food and supplies. Those who wish to donate can contact the Humane Society for more information or you can donate directly through the shelter’s wish list on Chewy by clicking here.
