WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) — What started as a domestic dispute ended with a standoff and an arrest for multiple charges.
Police in Wisconsin Rapids were called to a home on Carriage Court Saturday night where they found Travis Drollinger at the front door. Officers say he pointed a handgun in their direction, leading one of them to fire a single round in the direction of Drollinger.
No one was injured by the shot.
That led the 38-year-old to barricade himself inside the home for several hours. Officers were able to maintain contact with him during that time, and he later surrendered without further incident.
Charges of disorderly conduct, recklessly endangering safety, and endangering safety by intoxicated use of a dangerous weapon are being recommended against him. He’s also facing the possibility of numerous drug-related charges including possession of THC and cocaine.
No further information on the incident has been released. He made his initial appearance on Wednesday, but no further court action was immediately scheduled. He is being held in the Wood County jail though officers will arrange for a single, chaperoned trip to his home to retrieve some personal items.
Since the incident involved an officer firing their weapon, it will be treated as an officer-involved shooting even though no one was hurt by the shot. The Wood County Sheriff’s Office will handle that investigation.
