GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst confirmed on Tuesday that the team is continuing to work with Jordan Love’s representatives to get a contract extension done this summer.
Gutekunst spoke about the contract timeline in an interview with Steve Czaben and Brian Butch of 97.3 The Game in Milwaukee saying, “We’re in those conversations right now. The nice part about this is, that none of these things are easy or fast, but both parties want the same thing. We’d like to get this thing done before training camp, for sure, and both parties want to get a contract extension done. That stability at that position really allows you to have some security with the way we build our team.”
When asked about his current contract situation back in May, Love said he hasn’t been concerned about it saying, “I don’t really know what’s going on, but we’ll see. I’m not really gonna get into too much contract stuff. . . . We’ll see. I don’t know yet. We’ll see.”
Throughout 17 starts, Love tossed 32 touchdown passes and 11 interceptions for the Packers, and his yearly salary may surpass $50 million.
