GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah has released his first mock draft of the offseason and believes the Packers will add another first-round pass protector for Jordan Love.
According to Jeremiah, the Packers should select Ohio State offensive tackle Josh Simmons 23rd overall in the 2025 NFL Draft despite his injury concerns, saying, “Simmons is coming off a knee injury, but he’s as gifted as any offensive lineman in the class. He also has the tools to play multiple spots on the O-line, something Green Bay has always valued.”
Simmons suffered a season-ending knee injury back in October, and any team that selects him will undoubtedly do a ton of tests on his knee to make sure it’s on track to fully heal before training camp begins in August. Scouts at NFL Draft Buzz note that Simmons has “exceptional lateral mobility that allows him to mirror speed rushers and execute backside cutoff blocks with rare fluidity for a man his size” and “elite foot speed and kick-slide technique lets him consistently beat rushers to the spot, rarely getting beat around the corner.”
However, the scouts also note that Simmons “racked up 25 penalties over the past two seasons between SDSU and Ohio State and must clean up technical infractions” before getting regular season starts in the NFL.
Jeremiah’s full mock draft included the Tennessee Titans selecting Penn State pass rusher Abdul Carter number one overall, the New York Giants selecting Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter 3rd overall, and superstar running back Ashton Jeanty falling to the Pittsburgh Steelers at 21st overall.
