WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A man was so combative after being pulled over for an OWI that he had to be tased.
Brandon Scheel, age 38, is facing charges of his 8th OWI, Battery or Threat to a Law Enforcement Officer, Resisting or Obstructing an Officier, and Disorderly Conduct for the traffic stop on January 24th. Charges were filed on Monday in Marathon County.
According to the criminal complaint, Scheel was stopped by officers for going 45 mph in a 25 mph zone on North 1st Ave. The officer tailed Scheel’s vehicle where he continued traveling at speeds of around 50 mph. Police pulled Scheel over on Randolph St. when he turned off his exterior lights.
The officer says Scheel had difficulty getting his license out of his wallet and became increasingly agitated and uncooperative. Scheel then became combative which was when officers had to use a Taser on Scheel. After being struck by the tasing, Scheel continued to try and kick the window out of the squad car he was in.
Officers took Scheel to a hospital where his aggresive behavior escelated. He threatened to beat one of the officers and yelled obscenities.
Scheel’s last OWI conviction was in 2011. He will be in court on March 18th for his initial appearance for the charges.
