WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) — It’s one of the first big community celebrations since the COVID-19 pandemic shut down Central Wisconsin in the spring and summer of 2020.
The Cranberry Blossom Festival begins Friday in Wisconsin Rapids. Mayor Shane Blaser says organizers are blowing the doors open for this year’s event.
“We are absolutely open for business here,” said Blaser. “We’ve got parades, a carnival, there’s a lot happening here.”
Events begin with a dairy breakfast at the Elks Lodge on Jackson Street. The Cranberry Blossom Festival carnival will be set up downtown all three days, and other events will be scattered throughout town.
That includes art exabits, an open house for the city’s Police Department, and several live outdoor music events such as Downtown on Tap Friday night which will feature a live band in Veteran’s Memorial Park along with food and drinks for all ages.
Mayor Blaser says there will be no masking or vaccination requirements for any of the events, meaning you are free to take part at your own comfort level.
“If you’re vaccinated or unvaccinated, it’s your choice. If you feel uncomfortable (in a crowd) there are a lot of events you can observe from a distance.
“Everyone’s excited that we can finally get together and have these events again,” he added.
Blaser says for the most up-to-date schedule visit the event website at blossomfest.com.
