WASHINGTON, DC (WSAU) — A 3 RBI day from Willy Adames led the Milwaukee Brewers to a 4-1 win over Washington on Sunday.
Adames went 2-4 with a run scored in addition to three batted in. His two hits included a two-run home run in the 5th and an RBI double to open the scoring in the 3rd.
Andrew McCutchen topped off the game with a 9th-inning homer to provide an insurance run.
Omar Navarez and Jace Peterson each had two hits on the day as well.
Jason Alexander went 4.2 innings and allowed seven hits and one earned run but didn’t qualify for the win. That went to reliever Hoby Milner who finished off the 5th inning, then pitched the 6th allowing just one hit in the process. Devin Williams and Brad Boxberger earned holds for the 7th and 8th, Josh Hader closed the door in the 9th for his 19th save of the season.
Milwaukee now sits at 34-28 on the season and in second place in the NL Central. After an off-day today, they’ll stay on the east coast to start the new week with a three-game set against the New York Mets. Pre game show Tuesday at 5:35.
