(Milwaukee, WI) — The Milwaukee Brewers banged out 16 hits as they beat the Chicago Cubs Cubs 9-7 Sunday at American Family Field.
Christian Yelich was 3-5 including a two-run homer in the fourth inning and Kolton Wong followed it with a two-run bomb in the fifth.
Garrett Mitchell made his major league debut and drove in two runs with his first major league hit. All nine Brewer starters had at least one hit in the game.
Eric Lauer collected his 10th win after allowing four runs over five frames. Devin Williams picked up his ninth save for Milwaukee, which improved to 67-and-59.
Sean Newcomb suffered the loss in relief for Chicago, which fell to 55-and-73. Franmil Reyes and Nico Hoerner each went deep in the losing effort.
The Brewers start a series with the Pittsburgh Pirates tonight in Milwaukee…pre game show at 6:35 on WSAU.
