BRONX, NY (MetroSource-WSAU) — The Houston Astros are heading back to the World Series after sweeping the Yankees in the ALCS.
Alex Bregman and Yordan Alvarez singled in runs in the seventh inning to lift the Astros to a 6-5 win over the Yankees in Game Four of the American League Championship Series.
Jeremy Pena popped a three-run homer during a four-run third inning for Houston, which advances to the Fall Classic for the second straight season and fourth time in the last six years.
Harrison Bader belted a solo homer in the sixth inning to give the Yankees a brief 5-4 lead. Anthony Rizzo drove in a pair of runs in the setback.
Meanwhile, in Philadelphia, the Phillies are heading to the World Series.
Bryce Harper hit a go-ahead two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning as the Phillies topped the Padres 4-3 in Game Five of the National League Championship Series.
Rhys Hoskins also slugged a two-run shot for Philadelphia. Jose Alvarado was credited with the victory, and Ranger Suarez recorded the final two outs of the game to close out the series.
Juan Soto went deep with a solo shot in the fourth for San Diego. Robert Suarez was charged with the loss.
This marks the first time in 13 years that the Phillies have won the National League pennant. The Astros and Phillies begin the World Series Friday in Houston.
