WESTON, WI (WSAU) — A $200,000 cash bond has been set for a 29-year-old man accused of shooting another man last month near Wausau.
Following the February 4 shooting, Desmond Mayo was charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide. Officers later released a statement saying they believed he had fled the state. He was arrested in Illinois on March 1st.

The victim, a 38-year-old male, was shot on Mcintosh Road in Wausau. He managed to drive himself to a nearby hospital. While receiving care he was able to identify the shooter to police through some social media photos.
Conditions of Mayo’s bond include no contact with the victim or the victim’s place of employment. He must also surrender all firearms and maintain absolute sobriety. Mayo will find out on March 15 whether his case will go to trial.
