MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – Before Tuesday night’s series opener against the Toronto Blue Jays, the Milwaukee Brewers announced that they had recalled Abraham Toro from Triple-A Nashville and placed Jesse Winker on the injured list with a neck strain.
Due to neck discomfort, Winker was forced to leave Sunday’s game against the San Francisco Giants late. He will now be sidelined by the injury until at least sometime next week.
Winker’s struggles have reached a career low with a line of 204/.315/.231 for a 60 wRC+. He has just three extra-base hits this season—all doubles—and has yet to hit a home run. Since April 15, Winker has not had an extra-base hit.
After a neck injury made his 2021 season difficult, Winker underwent spinal surgery during the offseason.
