MADISON, WI (WSAU) – Big Ten media begins tomorrow, and the Big Ten preseason media poll has arrived with a few surprises.
The biggest winner of the poll was Michigan, with 27 first-place votes to win the Big Ten East over teams such as Ohio State, which only received eight first-place votes, and Penn State, which received just two first-place votes.
Meanwhile, Wisconsin received twenty first-place votes to win the Big Ten West after a very successful off-season with the hiring of new head coach Luke Fickell and landing transfers such as former SMU star quarterback Tanner Mordecai, former USC commit CJ Williams, and former Oklahoma quarterback Nick Evers.
Trailing the Badgers in the poll was Iowa, which came in second for Big Ten West first-place voting with sixteen votes, and Minnesota, which came in third with just one vote.
Wisconsin will begin the 2023 season at home against the University of Buffalo on September 2nd at 2:30 PM and will begin Big Ten play at Purdue on September 22nd at 6 PM.
